چکیده

While some research has been conducted in sub–Saharan Africa on the alien invasive Parthenium hysterophorus, little work assessed whether it is poses negative impact native forages. A field survey was carried out to study dominant co–existing plant species, and its abundance, forage cover. We found that non–natives were plants with P. hysterophorus compared natives. Plant species (r = -0.889, P 0.043) abundance -0.968, 0.007) decreased increasing percent Moreover, (Brachiaria reptans; r -0.922, 0.026), Cynodon dactylon; -0.972, 0.006, Digitaria milanjiana; -0.938, 0.018, Indigofera spicata; -0.977, 0.004) cover The concludes negatively affects diversity, thus, should controlled.

Harmful and beneficial aspects of Parthenium hysterophorus: an update

Parthenium hysterophorus is a noxious weed in America, Asia, Africa and Australia. This weed is considered to be a cause of allergic respiratory problems, contact dermatitis, mutagenicity in human and livestock. Crop production is drastically reduced owing to its allelopathy. Also aggressive dominance of this weed threatens biodiversity. Eradication of P. hysterophorus by burning, chemical herb...

Detoxification of parthenium (Parthenium hysterophorus) and its metamorphosis into an organic fertilizer and biopesticide

BACKGROUND Vermicompost of the toxic and allelopathic weed parthenium (Parthenium hysterophorus) was explored for its possible use as an organic fertilizer. Replicated plant growth trials were conducted using four levels of parthenium vermicompost (0, 2.5, 3.75, and 5 t/ha) to assess their effects on the germination, growth, and fruition of a typical food plant ladies finger (Abelmoschus escule...

The Invasive American Weed Parthenium hysterophorus Can Negatively Impact Malaria Control in Africa

The direct negative effects of invasive plant species on agriculture and biodiversity are well known, but their indirect effects on human health, and particularly their interactions with disease-transmitting vectors, remains poorly explored. This study sought to investigate the impact of the invasive Neotropical weed Parthenium hysterophorus and its toxins on the survival and energy reserves of...
